Teaching-Inspirational Workshops
All of our Workshops are a hands-on learning experience designed to meet each person where they are in their growth with flow movement arts. We can start from the very beginning basics and go all the way up to advanced levels. We pride ourselves on creating a fun, moderately paced, yet engaging learning experience that people can step away from feeling satisfied and excited about!
INSPIRATIONAL WORKSHOPS
Intro to Flow Arts
This is a workshop for beginners covering basics in hoop, staff, and poi as well as understanding and getting into your own flow practice.
Since we will be covering three different flow tools we won’t have a lot of time for learning tricks. Mostly basic techniques and how to handle each prop. This workshop is also designed to help people understand more about what flow arts is and how they can get started. It is very uplifting and informative.
Staff- A Movement Art-Form
I am happy to share this solid meditative, and focused approach to practicing staff. This movement art-form I have developed will take you through many basic and expert moves in a specific order (similar to martial arts or yoga). By following this form or pattern it will help you build a stronger mind-body connection, enhance your flow, your physical energy and give you more to work/play with no matter what level you are at. Bring your own staff if you can, but I will have a few extra if you don’t.
Intro to Poi
This is a workshop for the novice poi spinner. We will be covering basic holding techniques, basic planes of spinning, same time and split time, and a couple of tricks (butterfly/thread the needle and 2 & 3 beat weaves).
Hoop- Learning your Dance
Covering basics of moving with your hoop. This workshop is designed for both people that have never hooped before or are wanting to learn more. It’s a fun and insightful way to begin your hoop dance journey.
Getting participants feeling good about creating new movements with their body.
All Moves/Tricks should be learned in both hands and in both directions. Some can be learned in both vertical and horizontal positions as well.
Dancing IN your Hoop
A hoopdance workshop for movers of all levels.
In order to achieve more diversity and fullness in our flow we need not neglect the use of our core as well as our ability to move our feet. These factors are what make our flow a dance as opposed to a series of tricks. We will be learning how to hoop on several parts our core (head, shoulders, belly, hips, knees) as well as footwork and fancy transitions between movements. In this workshop we will be using larger hoops in order to practice core movements. I will have plenty to share.
Hoop Tricks and Flow Skills
OK so I started hooping in 1998. Along that 20 year journey I have picked up a lot of moves/tricks/skills/flow/movements and I would like to share as many of them with you all as I can. I have found that different moves can go by many names so it will be interesting hearing what names may come up. However we will be moving through most all the parts of the body starting from the head then moving all the way down to the feet. We will be working with On Body and Off Body moves. Learning all tricks forwards, backwards, and in both hands. Hopefully we will have time for some tosses too. Bring your hoop but I will have some extra if needed.
Perform your Art- 1 Solo Acts
This class is about how to bring your personal flow to a larger audience. We will work on stage presence, being comfortable performing in small areas, and figuring out how to fully use the stage. There are a lot of techniques, insights and personal growth realizations I have learned that I am happy to share. This class is for all props. Please bring what you want including just yourself. However I encourage you to bring the prop you ENJOY the most and focus on that to start.
Perform your Art- 2 Performing well with others
This class is about how to share your flow on stage with other performers. We will work on group awareness, moving together to create a larger picture, and what we all need to create a better performance. We will cover multiple formations and combinations that use from 2-8 performers. There are a lot of techniques, insights and personal growth realizations I have learned that I am happy to share. This class is for all props. Please bring what you want including just yourself. However I encourage you to bring the prop you ENJOY the most and have the best control over.
We can present any of these workshops at your next event or contact us for classes!
